Refurbishment and renovation projects often require reinstatement of the original architectural features such as wall tiles and fittings. Victorian Ceramics has the specialist knowledge to reproduce these originals in such a way that they offer the nearest match to the originals. This may mean reproducing the tiles using traditional techniques so that the tiles character and variations are reproduced or may mean using more modern techniques to get a more predictable finish. Victorian Ceramics can be a useful tool for architects and designers providing advice, costings and samples. We were asked to recreate the architectural identity and ambience of a prestigious large public Victorian building within a new private residence in North London. The customer wanted this unique space to transport him back in time. The project required the reproduction 25 unique ceramic pieces from the original building which were remodelled by hand. The tiles and ornate fittings were glazed and ‘aged’ to match the patina of the originals and the result was stunning. The photographs below are a testament to what can be achieved.
